Living with the Five Elements: Fire

5element.jpg

Join Justin Perreault for the 2nd installment in a series of five special events. This workshop will focus on the element of Fire as it pertains to the 5 Element Theory system of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The Five Elements Theory of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water creates a framework with which we can balance our approach to health, habits, dietary choices, seasonal change, and life goals/intentions, to keep with the flow and cycles of nature.

The Fire Element is associated with the season of Summer and is connected to the Heart/Small Intestine. Said to be the Emperor of our inner landscape, the Heart oversees all and is meant to keep emotions and life events in healthy perspective, allowing harmony between ourselves and the world around us.

The class will have lecture as well as active practice in Qigong exercises that heal and strengthen the Heart, Blood and Qi.
We will go over the basic function of the Heart/Small Intestine in TCM theory. Learn to find and stimulate specific Acupoints to balance the Heart and emotions.  Discuss dietary/lifestyle recommendations to address imbalance of the Fire element, while enjoying an herbal tea specifically for heart health. How to work with the Summer season to avoid disharmony while making the best use of these beautiful, longest days of the year. All of this will culminate into a knowledge that will help you develop a keen sense of your body and its needs through the changing seasons.

Drop-ins are welcome. Save the dates for the next installments! September 18: Earth, November 13: Metal; January 15: Water. All sessions are $40 each and are from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
