Dance has long been an activity of celebration, of marking important occasions, of expressing emotion, and most importantly - it's just plain fun!
Let's belly dance! During this workshop we will incorporate basic yoga stretching, exploration of movement, music, play, and techniques derived from Middle Eastern dance. Our goal is to re-open and strengthen channels of self-expression, as well as learning methods of movement for health and pleasure.
If you miss dancing for fun, do it often and want to learn new things, or have ever been curious about bellydance, this is the perfect place to start! The workshop will be beginner-friendly, no previous experience is necessary. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one, and dress for movement. Hip scarves will be available to borrow during the workshop. We will be in bare feet and it's important to dress comfortably (costumes encouraged)!
Lindsay Williams has been belly dancing for 13 years, dancing since she could walk, and studied for six years with Aurel at Ancient Art Studios in Berkeley, MA. and has her 500-hour in Transformational Yoga from Sanctuary Studios in Plymouth, MA.
